I worked with pupils from Stephen Freeman school to explore ideas around the school-children’s experience of Didcot as a place, and how Great Western Park fits into their vision of Didcot. We looked at the postcard as a form and postcards are traditionally used to represent place to tourists, finding ways to subvert this to create a richer and more complex sense of place.
The children went out and about in Didcot taking photographs of places that they visit, areas where they like to play and parts of the town which are less well known. We worked with these in our own postcards which had flaps, pop out and pull-tabs.
